Exploring the Belgium
That's what impressed me most
Summer 2002 , where are we going to? Oh Let's Go to Belgium I and my sister Lia said. Immediately other friends of ours, Simona and Elena, 2 young girls, answered full of Enthusiasm: Yes, why not??
Bruxelles. You can admire its history only in the Grand place, the central square sorrounded by big ancient buildings dating around XV-XVII century, in which you can see the typical flemish architecture with the nice facade of the houses with little windows and the nice roof with the stairs oh both side. In Bruxelles live a lot ofEuropean citizens from alla the countries of the European Union as there are the seat both of the parliament and of the commissions. But when we went in August it was only full of turists.
As it was very hot during the days we stayed there, we took the chance to visit also the capital at night. In Place de Saitn jery you can find many pubs where you can taste the delicious fruit beer (peach , strawberry anch cherry beer...). But the nost weel known building is Bruxelles is the Atomium, a big iron molecule built in acciaio and glass for the wolrd expo of 1958 which rappresent the science which respect the progress and help the peace. |
The Flandres. They are really magic. Actually Brugge is the most fascinating one with its narrow streets and medioeval bridges crossing over little canals . The atmosphere is just magic and you should'nt miss to go for a boat ride around the old downtown. In gand there are 2 beautiful Cathedrals, built in the typical Gothic-brabantine style : in the downtown there is the caslte all sorrounded by the water
In Antwerpen we went to visit the Rubens' house . Besides we went in the historic downtown and along the river schelda where once upon a time a Mitologic here defeated a dangerous monster by cuting its hand which he threw in the water of the river: here you can see the symbol of the town.
And Finally here we are once again in Bruxelles just to enjoy the flowercarpet they hold just once every two years in August, always with a different picture. In the evening you can see also a delighful show of light and cadles moving lead by classical music |
